Intelligence may be described as the ability to learn, and it has multiple components. IQ testing at The Learning Lab focuses on traditional aspects that relate to school success as opposed to evaluating other cognitive factors such as creativity. IQ scores should be seen as “mostly stable” over time, but not a fixed number based on one assessment. Diagnostically, an IQ score is typically required as a benchmark from which to compare academic achievement levels (to help diagnosis learning disabilities). IQ can also be used to generate helpful information about learning style, thinking skills, frustration, tolerance, emotional responding, and attention issues.
