This assessment is the most comprehensive evaluation offered at The Learning Lab and is conducted by a combination of psychologists and educational diagnosticians.

 

A full psycho-educational battery typically consists of the following components:

ü      Parent interview

ü      Student interview

ü      Teacher input

ü      Cognitive assessment

ü      Assessment of academic achievement levels (reading, writing, math)

ü      Evaluation of visual-motor skills

ü      Language screening

ü      Social/Emotional screening

ü      Evaluation of study skills and habits

ü      Assessment of specific attention issues

ü      Feedback session with parents

 

A psycho-educational assessment serves multiple purposes.  Cognitive and academic achievement levels are determined, including a description of strengths and weaknesses.  From this information, a specific learning disability or ADHD can be identified or ruled out. A student’s academic learning style can be described, and information regarding visual or auditory processing difficulties can be obtained.  Specific recommendations for each student are made, and the test results and recommendations are discussed in detail with the parents.  Consultation, follow-up with teachers, and tutoring are also available options.
